Man accused of strangling woman, killing her with vehicle pleads guilty

A man who strangled a woman and then ran over her in the parking lot of an Aurora apartment complex has pleaded guilty in connection to the crime.

Jordan Howard, 26, pleaded guilty on March 19 to reckless manslaughter, according to Arapahoe County District Court records. He was sentenced to five years in the Colorado Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

On March 4, 2022, Aurora Police Department officers found an injured woman in a parking lot near East 11th Avenue and Peoria Street. She told investigators that a man she had met drove her to that location and strangled her to unconsciousness, according to a news release.

The man, later identified as Howard, pushed her out of the car and ran over her. She laid in the parking lot for more than two hours before she was found.

The woman died from her injuries on April 19, 2022.
