First lady Jill Biden plans to stop in Aurora this weekend to promote the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research.
Biden is set to land at Denver International Airport on Friday night. On Saturday at noon, she is scheduled to speak, and then take part in a roundtable discussion at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
President Joe Biden announced the launch of the women’s health research initiative in November, led by the first lady and the White House Gender Policy Council. During his State of the Union address, Biden called on Congress to invest $12 billion for research in this area.
“Despite making up more than half the population, women have historically been understudied and underrepresented in health research,” according to a White House news release.
The Anschutz Medical Campus is home to the Ludeman Family Center for Women’s Health Research, the Colorado Center for Women’s Behavioral Health and Wellness and the UCHealth Women’s Care Clinic.
Biden will begin her trip in Saint Paul before heading to Colorado. The Biden press team didn’t immediately respond to a request for more details about the first lady’s activities during her stop here.
