Westbound Interstate 270 reopened near Interstate 25 after a fire in the tunnels underneath the interstate caused a multi-hour shutdown, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Fire crews responded to reports of propane tanks catching fire in an encampment under the highway overpass Tuesday evening, said Sgt. Adam Sherman.
The ramps from Interstate 76 and U.S. 36 to northbound I-25 were also closed for the fire and northbound and southbound I-25 lanes were blocked, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
By 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, the interstate was reopened and traffic was moving normally, according to CDOT cameras.
