Interstate 70 was closed in both directions for about and hour Tuesday from Burlington to the Kansas state line when two semi trucks caught fire, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The closure happened at about 3:12 p.m., said Trooper Josh Lewis, a state patrol spokesman.
Two truck drivers were taken to the hospital for injuries suffered in the incident, Lewis said.
The roughly 13-mile stretch of highway was shut down over safety concerns as emergency responders worked the scene, Lewis said.
The highway reopened in both directions at about 4:15 p.m. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Further details on the drivers injuries were not immediately available.
