Woman seriously injured after three-vehicle crash on I-25 north of Fort Collins

A 65-year-old woman was seriously injured after she crashed into two tractor-trailers on Interstate 25 north of Fort Collins, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash closed I-25 in both directions for more than an hour, said Sgt. Patrick Rice. The highway reopened at 3:16 p.m.

That portion of I-25 is under construction and both northbound and southbound lanes were sharing the northbound lanes.

The woman was driving southbound and lost control, driving into the center median and then crashing into the side of a northbound tractor-trailer and spinning into a second tractor-trailer at 1:46 p.m. near mile marker 281, according to the state patrol.

The woman seriously injured and transported to a hospital by Flight for Life, Rice said. Neither truck driver reported any injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash and investigators are looking at “unrelated medical events” as a possible cause of the crash, the agency said in a news release Wednesday.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
