Lakewood police arrested a 31-year-old former Brady Exploration High School paraprofessional on suspicion of child sex assault by a person in a position of trust, sexual exploitation of a child and other charges.
Imagine Ewer was arrested Jan. 9 and charged with child sex assault, sexual exploitation of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unlawful electronic sexual communication, according to court records. All of the charges are felonies.
Brady Exploration High School staff and families were notified of Ewer’s arrest Friday through an email from Jeffco Public Schools.
Ewer was hired as a paraprofessional at Brady in August, placed on leave Nov. 15 and fired Dec. 16, according to the letter.
School district officials cited state law in sending out the email Friday, three months after Ewer’s arrest, stating the law “requires notice to the community only after the court finds probable cause based on a formal preliminary hearing.”
“This balances the rights of the community, victims and the accused,” school district officials wrote.
Ewer’s preliminary hearing was delayed multiple times and she finally waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday, according to district officials. She is set to appear in court May 28.
Ewer was released from jail on a $25,000 bail in February, according to court records.
