I-25 north reopens south of Colorado Springs after jack-knifed tractor-trailer closed lanes

Interstate 25 northbound has reopened in Fountain south of Colorado Springs after a jack-knifed tractor-trailer got stuck on the roadway as overnight snow caused dangerous road conditions in the state’s south and southeast.

The interstate’s north lanes were closed between the U.S. 85 exit and the Mesa Ridge Parkway from about 4:30 a.m. to just before 1 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. CDOT reported the reopening at 12:46 p.m.

Colorado State Patrol troopers in a video posted on X warned drivers in the southeast part of the state that road conditions are dangerous and advised drivers to stay off the roads or take precautions.

“If you can, stay at home today; don’t be out on the roadways,” one trooper said in the video from the La Junta and Otero counties’ border. “However, if you do have to be on the roadways, leave early and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. Take it slow and give yourself plenty of distance between vehicles.
