Interstate 70 eastbound reopened again through Vail after a two-and-a-half hour closure that followed an earlier three-hour closure on Tuesday because of widespread blowing snow causing safety concerns.
At 12:49 p.m. Tuesday CDOT announced that the eastbound lanes are closed from Exit 176, Vail to mile point 176. The department announced the road had reopened at 3:14 p.m.
The Colorado Department of Transportation reported the first closure about 7:30 a.m. and the roadway reopened at 10:51 a.m.
Winds are blowing at about 30 to 35 mph in the area, and gusts can reach as high as 55 mph. Two to four inches of snow are possible throughout the day Tuesday.
