Colorado transportation officials have opened some lanes after a closure of westbound Interstate 70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel for safety reasons Tuesday morning after a truck crash that led to a fire in trees along the highway.
Shortly after 7 a.m., the right lane of I-70 was closed between Exit 218 at Herman Gulch and Exit 216 at Loveland Pass, west of Silver Plume, according to Colorado Department of Transportation postings on X, the social media site formerly called Twitter.
A truck rollover crash just east of the tunnel shortly after sunrise apparently sparked the fire, which spread into trees. Firefighters were at the scene dousing that blaze.
