The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after deputies found a man’s body on the High Line Canal trail Tuesday morning.
Just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a man lying on the ground of the High Line Canal trail in the area of East Iliff Avenue and South Quebec Street.
When deputies arrived, they found the man dead at the scene, deputy John Bartmann said. Investigators were called to the scene and are currently investigating the death as a homicide.
According to Bartmann, investigators believe the man died within the last 24 hours.
At this time, no information is being released on how the roughly 40-year-old man died. The Arapahoe County coroner’s office will release the victim’s name and cause of death at a later time.
Officials are currently combing the scene for witnesses and video footage, Bartmann said. Because the area is mostly commercial, there aren’t a lot of cameras pointed toward the trail, making the task difficult.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the homicide or who may have seen anything in the area in the last 24 hours to call the tip line at 720-874-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
