Heavy rain, flash flood shuts down I-70 through Glenwood Canyon

Interstate 70 is closed in both directions through Glenwood Canyon because of flash flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Eagle and Garfield counties including Glenwood Canyon. The warning runs through 7:15 p.m.

The highway is closed between Glenwood Springs and Dotsero, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

About  5:10 p.m. heavy rain, between .05 and 1 inch, had fallen on the Grizzly Creek burn scar area, the weather service said, and flash floods were occurring.
