Former scout leader sentenced in Arapahoe County to 36 years in prison for possessing child porn

A habitual sex offender and former Boy Scout leader was sentenced Monday in Arapahoe County District Court to 36 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

Floyd David Slusher, 70, was convicted Dec. 9 by a jury of sexual exploitation of a child video possession, and sexual exploitation of a child possession with intent to distribute, both felonies, according to the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.

Slusher, a former Boy Scouts leader, abused scores of children in Boulder decades ago. On Monday in Arapahoe County District Court “habitual sex offender sentence enhancers were proven” and he received a mandatory 36-year prison sentence, according to the DA’s office.

In February of 2022 was charged in the case after an investigation and arrest by the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He was a registered sex offender when investigators, serving a search warrant in his Aurora home, found multiple videos and movies showing young children being sexually assaulted by adults.

He was convicted of sex crimes twice in the late 1970s and late 1980s, for assaulting young boys and he spent years in prison. In October 2020, Slusher was granted parole and placed on the Colorado sex offender registry.
