A man was killed Tuesday night after being hit by a car near UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, the Aurora Police Department said, and investigators are searching for information after the driver of the car did not stop.
The man was walking across North Peoria Street just north of East 17th Avenue just before 11 p.m. Tuesday when a gray or black Honda Pilot traveling south on Peoria Street at a high rate of speed hit the man, police said.
Officers arrived to find the man in the roadway suffering “life-threatening injuries,” and he was taken to a hospital where he died.
The driver of the Pilot did not stop after the car hit the man and continued south on Peoria, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the hit and run or have dash-cam footage of the collision is asked to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section. Tipsters can anonymously report any information to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and could be eligible for up to $2,000 reward.
This is the 31st traffic-related fatality of 2022 in Aurora, police said.
