A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy and animal services staff rescued a falcon trapped in a barbed wire fence near Castle Rock on Tuesday.
Deputy Scott Haggarty responded to a call about an eagle stuck in a fence near U.S. 85 and North Daniels Park Road, which is between Castle Rock and Castle Pines, and found a falcon stuck in a barbed wire fence.
Haggarty and animal services officers were able to free the bird, and Haggarty took it to the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance in Sedalia for treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Alliance staff removed barbed wire from the bird and are planning to treat its wound to help it close up, sheriff’s officials said in an update.
