An El Paso County deputy sheriff arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident allegedly pointed a gun at a man and assaulted him, according to an arrest affidavit.
Marie Lahoff, 34, was arrested Feb. 2 and is charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor assault, harassment and false imprisonment, according to court records.
Lahoff worked in the Detention Security Division and was placed on administrative leave following her arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.Â
The incident took place on Jan. 20 at a home in the 1000 block of Norwood Avenue in Colorado Springs when Lahoff and the man got into an argument over her drinking, according to an arrest affidavit.
The argument escalated to Lahoff slamming a door so hard it broke the frame and the door came off the hinges, at which point the man tried to leave the residence, according to the affidavit.
When he walked into the living room, Lahoff had a gun and threatened to kill herself, the affidavit states.
The man tried to take the gun away and began recording the encounter on his phone, at which point she struck him on the head and pointed the gun at him, then continued to hit him.
After the man wrested the gun away, Lahoff continued to kick the man as he unloaded the gun, according to the affidavit.
She then locked the door and tried to prevent him from leaving, but the man was able to leave through a back door.
The next day, Lahoff texted the man, apologized and said she was embarrassed and took responsibility for what happened, the affidavit states.
Lahoff is set to appear in court on March 13, according to court records.
