An El Paso County deputy shot a man who allegedly stole an unmarked sheriff’s office vehicle on Tuesday, according to a video media brief from the department.
Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance between multiple adults in the 4300 block of Chamberlain South in unincorporated El Paso County. One adult was armed and potentially had warrants out for their arrest, according to the call.
Deputies responded to the call and found an armed man. “Two deputies fired at least one shot,” the department said. The man who had been shot then stole an unmarked sheriff’s office vehicle and left the scene, according to officials. A woman was also injured at the scene but her wounds were not consistent with a gunshot, deputies said.
The car was tracked via GPS to the Sienna Place Apartments in Colorado Springs. Deputies took the man into custody, rendered aid and took him to the hospital, according to the video brief.
The woman is stable but the man’s injuries are currently unknown, according to the department.
There is no threat to the public, according to officials. The shooting is being investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
