Eastbound Interstate 76 is closed due to a crash at 74th Avenue.
According to a tweet from the Colorado Department of Transportation, the road is closed from Interstate 25 to 74th Avenue, due to a crash at Exit 8.
The crash that shutdown the busy stretch of highway happened about 3:25 p.m., said Master Trooper Gary Cutler, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
Five vehicles were involved in a crash, including a semi-tanker, Cutler said. The semi’s load, described as a vacuum tanker, spilled about 3,500 gallons of “mud.” There were no reported injuries. A hazardous materials team has been sent to the scene to remove the mud.
Cleanup and vehicle recovery are ongoing, Cutler said at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
This is a developing story.
