Eastbound I-70 reopens after closure through Glenwood Canyon

Update: CDOT tweeted at 10:30 a.m. Monday that eastbound I-70 through Glenwood Canyon had been reopened.

A semitrailer rolled in the eastbound lanes of Glenwood Canyon on Saturday afternoon, forcing the police to close that section of the interstate indefinitely.

The interstate is closed at Exit 116, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The crash was reported about 1:14 p.m.

No vehicles over 35 feet in length are allowed to detour over Independence Pass.

“Plan for a long duration closure,” a CDOT tweet said.

Travelers can search for alternate routes at cotrip.org.
