East Colfax Avenue reopened at North Franklin Street in Denver at 5 p.m. Wednesday after an abandoned house caught fire near the intersection, causing firefighters to close the road.
Denver firefighters responded to a fire at what appeared to be an abandoned structure at 1600 E. Colfax Ave. just after 2 p.m., the Denver Fire Department posted on X. No injuries have been reported.
Crews brought the fire under control at around 4 p.m. and were conducting a final search of the structure, according to the department.
Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside and work their way in due to the complicated nature of the structure and current wind conditions, the agency said in a 2:20 p.m. update.
