An inmate found dead in her cell at the Douglas County jail Friday morning was being held for investigation of second-degree murder and domestic violence.
About 6:30 a.m., a deputy found Victorine Galvan Grice, 55, in an “unresponsive” state, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office news release. Grice was alone and there were no signs of trauma.
Her death is being investigated by the Douglas County Coroner’s Office, as well as the sheriff’s office and critical incident response team.
On July 18 deputies responded to a shooting at a Highlands Ranch residence on Timber Hawk Circle. Colin Grice, 57, was found dead inside the home. Victorine Grice was arrested at the scene as a suspect in her husband’s death.
