Denver weather: Monday warms up with temps reaching 60s under partly cloudy skies

Freezing temperatures early Monday were warming rapidly and Denver residents can expect springlike weather in the first half of this week with generally dry plains and partly cloudy skies.

Students and workers woke up in the dark again with the onset of daylight saving time, which means the sun won’t rise along Colorado’s Front Range until after 7 a.m. this week.

On Monday, temperatures will top 50 degrees and reach as high as 60 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday morning under sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. The wind was expected to remain relatively calm Monday, with gusts at speeds up to 16 miles per hour.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, scattered light snow likely will fall at higher elevations in the mountains and rain may fall on the plains, weather service forecasters said. Late Wednesday and Thursday, cooler temperatures are expected as snow spreads down from the mountains.
