The pattern of hot and dry weather this week will continue Wednesday with high temperatures and sunny skies in the forecast.

In addition to Wednesday’s heat, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued an ozone action day alert for Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties as ozone concentrations are expected to worsen Wednesday.

A hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service is also in effect Wednesday for northeast and north central Colorado, where heavy rain is possible, increasing the likelihood of flash flooding.

Wednesday will bring a high of around 89 degrees and sunny skies.

Although unlikely, there is a 30% chance for rain after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures will drop to an overnight low of around 64. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is possible with otherwise clear skies through the night.

Thursday also brings a low chance of rain. Forecasters expect a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon.

Thursday’s forecast calls for a high of 96. Friday will also bring temperatures reaching as high as 96.

Friday, however, may bring a higher chance of rain at 40%.
