Snow continues to fall over the Denver area Saturday as this weekend’s winter storm winds down, moving southeast.
While the strongest snow bands moved over the city Friday night, Denver can expect to see another 2 to 5 inches of snow accumulate throughout the day Saturday, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
Denver saw 2 to 3 inches of snow accumulate overnight Friday, according to updated snow totals.
Saturday’s heaviest snow will fall across the southern foothills and southeast parts of the Denver area, according to a NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.
Residents across the Palmer Divide, including Castle Rock, Larkspur and Elizabeth, can expect another 4 to 8 inches of snow to stack on what already fell last night, making travel difficult, according to NWS forecasters.
The heaviest snowfall over the Divide is expected Saturday afternoon, gradually reducing in coverage and intensity this evening and wrapping up by midnight, forecasters said. In the highest elevation areas south of Kiowa, another foot of snow accumulation is possible.
Friday’s Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday.
