Denver on winter storm watch as more snow coming this weekend

The Denver area and Northern Colorado have been put on winter storm watch from Friday afternoon to Saturday night. Expected snowfall is around 4-8 inches, with up to 12 inches possible in the foothills.

Friday morning will see the first chance for snow as a quick-moving disturbance in the atmosphere races through the state. The Denver metro area and Palmer Divide could see some precipitation with this system.

The second chance for snow begins Saturday morning, when a low-pressure axis drifts through the state. Some forecast models show snow developing in the morning as this moves through the area, but light to moderate snow is likely in the evening.

Denver has a 90% chance of seeing snow Saturday, though potential snow totals are still up in the air.

Saturday’s high temperature drops to just 33 degrees with a low of 19 degrees.

Sunday and most of next week will see a return of sunny and dry weather, and temperatures rise to the mid-40s starting Monday through at least Wednesday.
