Denver weather: Near-record heat expected under sunny blue skies

Hot dry air over Colorado’s Front Range cities is bringing summer-like weather conditions Monday with sunny blue skies and light wind.

The high temperatures around metro Denver will reach 78 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.  The wind speed is expected to blow at speeds around 7 miles per hour in the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach 85 degrees on Tuesday and 84 degrees Wednesday, possibly breaking records for this time of year, weather service forecasters said.

At night, temperatures likely will stay above freezing. In the mountains of western Colorado, temperatures are expected to stay in the 50s, decreasing to below freezing at night.
