Denver weather: Less than an inch of snow now expected in Thursday snowstorm

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Boulder now expect Thursday night’s snowstorm to drop less than an inch of snow in Denver.

Forecast models for the storm show areas around Colorado Springs to likely get two to three inches, while even mountain areas will likely get only around an inch of snow.

While the snow chances diminished from Tuesday’s estimates, forecasters said the snow could start as freezing rain, adding to the possibility of dangerous driving conditions.

Temperatures will still likely drop Thursday, though, with the high set at 36 degrees and the low at 24 degrees.

There’s another slight chance of light snow Friday night as temperatures drop below freezing again, then a snowstorm is still possible on Monday. Forecasters said that storm is still too far out to judge what the metro area could receive.
