Metro Denver should see high temperatures in the mid to upper-70s on Thursday and Friday and calmer winds before things heat up for the first weekend of June, according to a forecast from the Denver-Boulder Office of the National Weather Service.
The highs at Denver International Airport are forecast to top out at 76 degrees Thursday with a 30% chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. The daily low is expected to be 48 degrees. That pattern should repeat on Friday before daily highs push into the upper-80s on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Temperatures on Sunday and Monday should approach 90 degrees and are forecast to cross that mark on Tuesday at the airport, while other parts of the metro area could cross 90 degrees on Sunday. The chance of afternoon storms is put at around 20% this weekend.
Winds on Thursday are expected from the northwest in a range of 5 to 13 miles per hour before switching to an east-southeast direction in the afternoon. Wind gusts could reach as high as 21 miles per hour.
That’s much calmer than the wind speeds seen on Wednesday, when more than 900 flights were canceled at Denver International Airport due to high gusts as thunderstorms rolled through the area.
