Temperatures near 90 degrees are back to Denver Thursday after a few cool days.
A sunny and dry day brings a high temperature of 88 degrees for the day, but National Weather Service forecasters say those clear, dry conditions could push that temperature up to 90 degrees.
Denverites can expect wind gust of up to 15 mph Thursday morning and afternoon.
Because of the rising temperatures, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment also extended the Ozone Action Day Alert for the Front Range urban corridor.
Ozone concentrations are expected to reach the moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups range on Thursday, with the highest concentrations in the southern and western portions of the Denver Metro Area, including Highlands Ranch and Golden.
Residents from the Denver and Boulder areas to Fort Collins and Greeley are urged to be mindful of how often they are driving to limit the impact of pollution of air quality.
Additional air pollution in this region may directly worsen air quality or contribute to precursors which may also adversely affect air quality.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment noted the Zero Fare for Better Air initiative at RTD which gives transit users free fares for the month of August and invited Denver area residents to take advantage of the opportunity to lower emissions.
“Air pollution & visibility are affected by auto emissions, & can negatively affect human health, the environment & can limit views of our state,” the department said on Twitter. “Help to reduce impacts in CO by driving less if you can.”
