Two juveniles have been arrested as suspects in a double-shooting on East Colfax Avenue in Denver.
The shooting happened at about 4:15 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 2400 block of East Colfax, near Denver East High School and the Carla Madison Recreation Center.
The suspects, two 16-year-old males, were arrested on Wednesday night, police said in a Thursday afternoon news release.
“The investigation revealed that an altercation between the two juvenile suspects and the adult male victim occurred prior to shots being fired by one of the suspects,” the news release said. “The involved adult male (age 20) and an uninvolved juvenile male bystander” were hit by the gunfire and both were taken to a local hospital.
“The juvenile male victim remains in the hospital and the adult male victim has since been released,” police said.
One suspect is being held for investigation of two counts of attempted murder, police said. The other suspect is being investigated for accessory to a crime. They were not identified Thursday because of their age. The Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine what charges, if any, will be made in the case.
