Denver sets record high temperature after hitting nearly 80 degrees Sunday

Even after temperatures dipped below normal last week with Colorado’s first snowstorm of the season, Denver was breaking heat records Sunday.

With a high of 78 degrees, Denver has broken the record temperature for Nov. 5 — a degree above the old record of 77 degrees, and nearing the all-time monthly high of 81 degrees, the National Weather Service announced Sunday.

According to meteorologists at the weather service, the previous record of 77 degrees was set back in 2020.

Nov. 5, 2023, also tied with Nov. 5, 2020’s record for the warmest low temperature of the day at 46 degrees, according to NWS data.

On average, temperatures in Denver at this time of year hover around 57 degrees — more than 20 degrees below the high Sunday.

According to NWS data, so far in November, each day’s temperature has been significantly above the seasonal average, with most days reaching at least 10 degrees above 57.
