Denver police officer arrested on domestic violence charges in Aurora

A Denver police officer was arrested Thursday night on domestic violence-related harassment charges, according to the Denver Police Department.

Ramone Young was arrested by the Aurora Police Department on suspicion of two counts of misdemeanor harassment that occurred on March 8, according to court records.

Young was hired in 2013 and was most recently an officer in the patrol division, Denver police said in a news release Friday.

He was placed on a nonpatrol assignment while the case goes through the judicial process. The department’s administrative review will begin when the criminal case is adjudicated, Denver police said Friday.

According to previous reporting from Denver7, Young was suspended for 10 days in 2017 after he failed to check on a woman in a holding cell for nine hours.

At the time, Young was working desk duty “after prior suspensions for inappropriate contacts with women on duty,” Denver7 reported.
