The Denver Police Department arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in October in the Lowry neighborhood.
Quajon Houcks is being held for investigation of second-degree murder, according to a police department news release. He was identified as a suspect through DNA evidence found at the shooting scene near the intersection of North Dallas Street and East 5th Avenue in Denver.
Houcks is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Angello Reyes on Oct. 12 during an attempted robbery, police said. The robbery turned into a brief fight before Houcks allegedly shot Reyes, the news release said.
The investigation started after the Aurora Police Department was called about a dead person on the 400 block of North Elmira Street, which is about four blocks from where the alleged robbery happened.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office will decide whether to file formal charges against Houcks.
