These three Denver parks will host food trucks this summer as city launches “feast” program

Three large Denver parks will host food trucks on select days through the summer as part of a city pilot program aimed at satiating residents’ desire for more food and beverage options in public green spaces.

Denver Parks and Recreation on Wednesday announced the launch of its “Feast In Denver’s Nature” program, which begins Wednesday and runs through Aug. 31. The city has planned two sessions, with a different lineup of trucks starting July 20.

According to the department’s schedule, two parks — Washington Park and Paco Sanchez Park in west Denver — should have food trucks available for visitors today from late afternoon until 8 p.m.

Here is a park-by-park schedule for Denverites and visitors interested in partaking in the feasting:

Washington Park: 4-8 p.m. on Wednesdays and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays. The initial trucks are Hibachi House, Mississippi Boy Catfish & Ribs and Tha MooVment. The park is at South Downing Street and East Kentucky Avenue.

Paco Sanchez Park: 4-8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, except on Aug. 3. The initial trucks are Fritay Haitian Cuisine and Monini’s Kitchen. The park is at 1280 Knox Court.

Commons Park: 5-8 p.m. on Thursdays, except for July 4. The events will have a rotating truck roster. The park is at 2101 15th St.

The pilot program will provide Denver Park and Recreation with information that will shape if and how the department will permit food trucks and other food and beverage operators in the city’s parks in the future, according to Wednesday’s launch announcement.

Civic Center park at Broadway and Colfax Avenue has hosted an array of food trucks as part of its Civic Center Eats program since 2005.

Its spring season, offering options for hungry parkgoers on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., lasts through June 26. The Civic Center Eats summer session starts July 10, according to its website.
