Four people have died in three crashes on interstates overnight Friday into Saturday in the Denver area.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in one of the fatal crashes that also sent four juveniles to the hospital.
In that crash, which happened on Interstate 70 at the Interstate 76 junction in Arvada, six people were in a car that rolled over, Arvada police reported about 3:30 a.m. on X.
A woman died, and another adult and the four juveniles were taken to a hospital, Arvada police spokesperson David Snelling said. The adult taken to the hospital was the driver, according to the post.
Most of the people involved were not wearing seatbelts, Snelling said, and the post said multiple people were ejected from the car.
Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed at Wadsworth Boulevard during the investigation and reopened about 5 a.m.
Also on eastbound Interstate 70 overnight, Aurora police reported a fatal crash near Chambers Boulevard.
Responding officers found a pickup had left the roadway and crashed down the side of an embankment, according to a Saturday afternoon post on X.
One person was in the truck and died at the scene, police said.
Eastbound Interstate 70 also was closed in this area until about 5 a.m.
The third crash happened on Interstate 25 in Broomfield between 144th Avenue and Colorado 7, Broomfield police reported just before 11 p.m. Friday on X.
The north lanes of the interstate were shut down for several hours before being reopened early Saturday.
Broomfield police said later Saturday that two people had died but did not release any more information on the crash.
