Three suspects have been arrested in connection to an exchange of gunfire at a Denver apartment complex that left one man dead and four people wounded.
The incident happened about 8:45 p.m. May 10 at 9600 E. Girard Avenue, according to the Denver Police Department, where a brief altercation erupted into gunfire.
On Wednesday three suspects were taken into custody, according to a DPD news release.
Richard Kemp, 25, is being held on investigation of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, police said. Jasmine Marin, 30, is being investigated for accessory to crime for first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. The third suspect, a juvenile, is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.
Killed in the shooting was 22-year-old Rodney Jackson. Emergency responders took a man and woman to a local hospital, police said. Two other people who were shot were taken to a hospital by private vehicle.
Jackson, who was pronounced dead at a hospital, was shot four times with two weapons, and Kemp suffered a gunshot wound in the incident, according to a heavily redacted 18-page arrest affidavit. Police seized at least six 9mm firearms as part of the investigation, tying four of the weapons to the shooting scene through ballistics evidence. Social media sites and cell phones are part of the evidence in the case.
Kemp is scheduled to appear in a Denver court on Friday. Police will present the case to the Denver District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, if any.
