A deputy with the Denver Sheriff Department has been arrested on suspicion of assault in a domestic violence investigation.
Deputy Ernest Parker was arrested Thursday by Aurora police, according to a sheriff department news release.
Officers responded at about 1:05 a.m. Thursday to a domestic violence report in the 100 block of Oakland Street in Aurora, police said. Parker met with investigators at 11:30 a.m. and was arrested.
Parker has been placed on leave from his post, and the Denver Office of the Independent Monitor has been notified of the domestic violence investigation, which includes second-degree assault and criminal mischief for property damage.
Parker has been with the department since 2019 and is assigned to the downtown detention center.
