“Jagged Little Pill,” “MJ,” TINA,” “Book of Mormon” and more coming to DCPA next season

“Jagged Little Pill,” “1776,” “TINA: The Tina Turner Musical,” “MJ” and more Broadway hits are coming to the Buell Theatre for the 2023-24 season, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts announced today.

Plus, fan favorites “The Book of Mormon” and “Disney’s Aladdin” are among the added attractions.

“I couldn’t be happier to bring a brand-new season filled with award-winning productions direct from Broadway,” said John Ekeberg, executive director for DCPA Broadway and Cabaret. “Subscribers have grown to cherish and await seasons like this bigger, brighter and bolder 2023/24 Broadway season. We cannot wait to see you at the theater.”

“1776,” March 21-April 2, 2023. The American Repertory Theater at Harvard University/Roundabout Theatre Company’s new production of the Tony Award-winning show for Best Musical re-examines a pivotal moment in American history.

“Jagged Little Pill,” Aug. 16-27, 2023. Another Tony Award-winning production based on Alanis Morissette’s popular songs, with direction by Tony winner Diane Paulus.

“Beetlejuice,” Sept. 5-17, 2023. Based on Tim Burton’s beloved film starring Michael Keaton, this musical tells the story of a strange teen “whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes,” according to the Denver Center.

“TINA: The Tina Turner Musical,” Oct. 18-29, 2023. Based on the tumultuous yet inspiring life of 12-time Grammy winner Tina Turner, one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time.

“SIX,” Dec. 5-24, 2023. The six wives of Henry VIII “take the microphone to remix 500 years of historical heartbreak,” according to the press release.

“Message In a Bottle,” Feb. 13-25, 2024. A dance-theatre show inspired by the hits of 17-time Grammy winner Sting.

“MJ,” April 10-28, 2024. Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Christopher Wheedon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage created this musical based on superstar Michael Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour.

“Company,” May/June 2024. A new production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s groundbreaking musical comedy of 1970 that’s surprisingly still relevant today.
