CU Buffs football highs and lows from the 2023 season

The Colorado Buffaloes football team and coach Deion Sanders are the talk of college football, and have put the CU Buffs program back on the map. Here’s a look at some of the highs and lows from the 2023 season:

Stolen jewelry

In a video posted by “Well Off Media” after the game, five Colorado players claimed to have had jewelry and other valuables stolen out of the visitors’ locker room at the Rose Bowl.

The burglary happened sometime during UCLA’s 28-16 win over CU, according to a statement released by CU athletics Monday afternoon. Read more…

WATCH: CU Buffs Shilo Sanders ejected for targeting vs. UCLA, flexes as penalty flags fly

Shilo Sanders brought the hammer one time too many.

The Buffs safety, son of CU football coach Deion Sanders, was ejected for targeting a UCLA receiver late in the second quarter of the Buffs’ tussle with the Bruins early Saturday evening.

Game story: CU Buffs shut down in loss to UCLA at Rose Bowl, yielding seven sacks and mustering only 38 rushing yards

If Saturday’s performance at the Rose Bowl is any indication, the 2023 Colorado Buffaloes may have already peaked.

Unless the Buffs offense figures things out quickly, the drop-off could be steep.

CU’s offense no-showed in its Pac-12 showdown against No. 23 UCLA, garnering only three points off four first-half takeaways. The Buffs didn’t find the end zone until late in the fourth quarter of a 28-16 defeat to the Bruins, and only managed 255 total yards.

“Offensively, we’ve got to improve and you see that,” CU coach Deion Sanders said. “Our quarterback is taking a beating. (Shedeur Sanders) got an injection at halftime just to block some of the pain… We have to do a better job of protecting him. And running the football, we’ve had a couple lineman go down (with injuries), but that’s no excuse.” Read more…

CU Buffs’ last Los Angeles football dance leaves California Buffs fans miffed: “It’s heartbreaking”

Bruce Bailey wore a Prime-worthy, wide-brimmed CU hat. Upon closer examination, he had a black UCLA sweatshirt tucked under his arm. Just in case.

“This could be the last UCLA-Colorado game we go to as a family,” Bruce explained, nodding at wife, Teri, and son, Colin, as they prepared to enter the Forever Buffs pregame tailgate a few holes away from the Rose Bowl late Saturday afternoon.

“I’m so heartbroken to have the Pac-12 break apart.” Read more…
