A former Commerce City school teacher faces felony charges for alleged sexual assault of a student.
John McMillan, 40, allegedly committed sexual contact with a child between Aug. 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022, while he was employed as a teacher at Landmark Academy at Reunion, according to a Commerce City Police Department news release.
Landmark Academy is a K-8 public charter school in Commerce City.
“McMillan taught at Landmark Academy from 2011 until the end of the 2022 school year when he left for a position in the Weld Re-8 School District at Fort Lupton Middle School,” the release said. McMillan taught at Fort Lupton from August 2022 until December 2022.
McMillan has been charged with sexual assault on a child — pattern of abuse, and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust by the Adams County District Attorney’s Office, authorities said.
