All evacuations for the County Road 21 fire in Larimer County have been lifted

All evacuations for the The County Road 21 fire have been lifted and the fire has burned 212 acres, about 1/3 of a square mile, north and east of Ted’s Place.

The wildland fire sparked Thursday in Larimer County and it had minimal growth overnight. Cooler, cloudy weather on Friday helped firefighters in battling the blaze.

The fire is about 50% contained an an engine will patrol the fire overnight Friday, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. All roads in the area are open.

The Poudre Fire Authority reported about 9:30 p.m. Thursday the fire was burning about 500 to 600 acres, but better mapping led to the revision of 212 acres, the sheriff’s office said. A multi-mission aircraft from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control aided in the updated mapping.

About 60 firefighters worked on the fire on Friday and plans call for 40 firefighters to be working on Saturday morning.

The fire, near County Road 66 and County Road 21, prompted evacuation orders Thursday by the sheriff’s office. Residents east of U.S. Highway 287, south to Arapaho Valley Road, east to County Road 21 and north to County Road 66 were under the order, which was downgraded to voluntary on Friday afternoon. On Friday evening the voluntary status was lifted.

Residents living in the area between County Road 21 County Road 21C were downgraded Thursday night to voluntary evacuations. Those voluntary orders were lifted Friday.

County Road 23 reopened to northbound traffic on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.
