Interstate 70, Interstate 76 and many other roads in northeastern Colorado that had been closed for safety concerns after a major winter storm Wednesday have reopened as of Thursday evening.
Interstate 70 had been closed in portions after a crash near Byers involving nine semitrailers and a dozen other vehicles, while I-76 had been closed for snowy, windy conditions. Both roadways were fully reopened as of 4:20 p.m., though Colorado State Patrol wrote on Twitter that eastbound Interstate 70 was still down to one lane in the immediate area of the crash, where crews were still working to clear all the debris.
The Colorado Department of Transportation advised travelers should not attempt to use county or secondary roadways to bypass highway closures.
The following highways remain closed due to adverse conditions:
Colo. 55 in both directions from Colo. 138 to mile post 5.5.
Colo. 59 in both directions from I-76 to Haxtun.
