Colorado road conditions: U.S. 6 closed for safety concerns

U.S. 6 is closed in both directions as a snowstorm hits the mountain corridor, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Eastbound I-70 closed Tuesday evening between exit 180 for east Vail and exit 190 for Vail Pass summit but has since reopened.

U.S. 6 is closed between Interstate 70 and mile point 222 near Keystone Resort. There are adverse road conditions, including up to 3 inches of snow accumulation and wind gusts up to 65 mph, CDOT officials said in an alert.

Westbound I-70 reopened near Silver Plume and Herman Gulch after closures for multiple spun-out vehicles and crashes, according to alerts posted on the agency’s website. Eastbound I-70 reopened near Vail Pass and Frisco after closures for safety concerns.
