A man is missing and was last seen getting into the Colorado River in Hot Sulphur Springs in an inflatable kayak.
About 1:50 p.m. Monday staff with the Pioneer Park campground notified the Grand County Sheriff’s Office about a vehicle parked at a campsite that was past checkout, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Deputies responded to the area and received information about a man who got into the river on Sunday in a kayak and hadn’t been seen since, the release said. The sheriff’s office identified the man as Ari Harms, who is in his 30s.
A search was made in Byers Canyon and nearby areas, but emergency responders didn’t find him. The search and a missing person investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the incident, or on Harms’ whereabouts, is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 970-725-3311.
