EA Sports recently unveiled the ratings for the top 50 players and top 10 by position in the upcoming NHL 23 video game and the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche is well represented on the list.
Colorado has four players listed among the top 50 in game with Nathan MacKinnon (94 overall rating), Cale Makar (94), Mikko Rantanen (91) and Gabe Landeskog (89).
MacKinnon and Makar are tied for the second-highest overall rating in the game along with Toronto center Auston Matthews and Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Edmonton center Connor McDavid has the top overall initial rating at 95.
Rantanen is tied for the 17th-best rating in the game and Landeskog is tied for 32nd.
In addition, MacKinnon is tied for the second-best overall rating among centers. Landeskog is ninth among left wingers. Rantanen is third among right wings. Makar is top-rated right defenseman and Devon Toews (88) is third among left defensemen.
Also noteworthy is Carolina’s Jaccob Slavin, a former Colorado College star, who is tied for seventh among left defensemen with an 87 overall rating.
NHL 23 is slated for an Oct. 14 release date and will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Anaheim center Trevor Zegras and Canadian forward Sarah Nurse are the cover athletes for this year’s edition.
