Tunnel inspections will shut down sections of U.S. Highway 6 in Clear Creek Canyon for four nights in late April, transportation officials announced Friday.
Colorado Department of Transportation teams will conduct tunnel inspections along U.S. 6 between Interstate 70 and Colorado Highway 119 on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24, shutting down the section of highway overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. both days, according to a department news release.
The following week, inspections will close the next section of US 6 between Highway 119 and Colorado Highway 93 on Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., the release stated.
Drivers can take I-70 as an alternate route around the overnight closures.
The schedule may change if weather becomes an issue, officials said Saturday. Drivers can get the latest closure information online at cotrip.org.
