Two boys aged 10 and 8, and a 21-year-old man, were hospitalized after suffering blunt force injuries in a zipline crash Sunday evening in Castle Rock, town officials confirmed Monday morning.
The man was listed in critical condition. The two boys were listed as stable.
The crash happened at the EDGE facility, formerly called the Castle Rock Adventure Park, shortly before 6:15 p.m., according to Melissa Hoelting, spokeswoman for Castle Rock. Castle Rock Fire and Rescue responders found those injured on a platform. Paramedics transported the three to the Sky Ridge Medical Center.
“The types of injuries were blunt force,” Hoelting said.
The relationship between the man and the boys was unclear, and no other information was available, she said.
This zipline facility, located west of Interstate 25 in Castle Rock, is touted on the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce website as offering the most exciting zip line tour along Colorado’s Front Range. The promotional information on the site includes a claim that customers “will soar at speeds of 50 miles per hour on some of the state’s longest and fastest cables.”
