The Colorado High School Coaches Association announced it will induct five coaches into its 2024 Hall of Fame class, headlined by record-breaking Highlands Ranch girls basketball coach Caryn Jarocki.
Joining Jarocki in the class will be Mountain Vista dance coach Keri Atchison, longtime basketball coach Bruce Dick, former Brush football coach Randy Dreitz and ex-Rangeview boys basketball coach Terry Taylor.
The group will be inducted at a banquet on Monday, April 15, at Legacy Campus Great Hall in Lone Tree.
Jarocki has guided Highlands Ranch to seven state championships since taking over the program in 1996 following an 11-year stint at Colorado Academy. With more than 700 wins and counting, she is the winningest coach in Colorado high school girls basketball, with her teams reaching the Final Four 18 times.
Atchison, currently the spirit director for Mountain Vista, has led the Golden Eagles dance team to state titles in all three divisions: three times in Poms, four times in Jazz, and twice in Hip-Hop. Her 2017 Jazz team won a national championship.
Dick, now Fort Collins’ boys basketball coach, has won at every stop in a winding coaching career that began in 1978. Dick took over as Green Mountain head coach in 1982, with his teams qualifying for the state tournament 10 times over 23 seasons, including a state title in 1992. Since leaving Green Mountain, he’s had successful tenures at Rocky Mountain, Resurrection Christian and Fort Collins, with each program making at least one Great 8 and Resurrection Christian finishing as runner-up twice. He entered this winter with an overall record of 714-227.
After serving as an assistant to Hall of Fame football coach Larry Mills at Brush, Dreitz took over in 1999 and guided the Beetdiggers to 128 wins from 2000 to 2014. He won a state title in his final season leading the program and had a runner-up finish in 2010. He also served as the Beetdiggers wrestling coach, guiding them to a runner-up finish in 1997.
Taylor coached Rangeview boys basketball from 1983-2003, winning a state title in Colorado’s largest classification in 1985 with runner-up finishes 1989 and 1993. Prior to coming to Rangeview, he led San Juan Utah High School to an undefeated state title in 1971. His overall record was 455-219, not including later stints as an assistant coach at Eaglecrest during the Raptors’ state championship seasons in 2013 and ’17.
Tickets to the event will be available at colohsca.org in early January.
