Criminal charges have been filed against four adults and two juveniles in connection to an armed double carjacking in Cherry Creek.
Police officers responded Jan. 24 to a 911 call on a robbery in a parking lot at East 2nd Avenue and University Boulevard, according to a Denver District Attorney’s Office news release.
Two victims told officers that they were in a parked vehicle when a group of males surrounded the vehicle and forced the occupants out of the car at gunpoint and then struck them in the head with a pistol, the release said.
The suspects then allegedly stole the car and fled. Officers pursued the stolen car to East 17th Avenue and Willow Street, where the suspects allegedly got out of the car and allegedly attempted to carjack a second vehicle. The six defendants were arrested in a nearby backyard.
The district attorney’s office announced Thursday that multiple charges have been filed in the case, including multiple counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft and second-degree assault. Two adult defendants have been charged with violating Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act.
The defendants range in age from 20 to 15. A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old are being charged in juvenile court. The 16-year-old faces a charge of being a violent juvenile offender using a weapon.
