The Broncos are searching for their fifth head coach since winning Super Bowl 50. So who’s the favorite? According to one sportsbook, two candidates are far above the rest.
Draftkings Sportsbook has Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn at +150 odds — meaning a $100 bet would win $150 — and former Saints head coach Sean Payton at +225, as of Wednesday.
Quinn and Payton have risen as the favorites after Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh told the school president that he would be returning next season.
“Now with Sean Payton and Dan Quinn in the mix, the Broncos have all the toys they could ask for,” Covers.com’s Kyle LaRusic writes. “Sean Payton isn’t returning to the NFL for a rebuilding team, and Dan Quinn will be happy to work with the Broncos after having so much success with the Cowboys’ defense this year.”
Behind Quinn and Payton on the odds sheet, possible candidates include former Stanford coach David Shaw (+1,000), former Lions coach Jim Caldwell (+1,400), Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero (+1,500) and 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans (+1,500).
There are also some intriguing longshots listed, including former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury (+7,500) and former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (+10,000). Manning, for what it’s worth, told TMZ that he was not interested in pursuing a head coaching position.
