I don’t want the Broncos to trade Jerry Jeudy. He’s just coming into his All-Pro window as a receiver.
Ben, happy camper
Kiz: This is a math question wrapped in football problem. If the Broncos want to pick up the fifth-year option on Jeudy’s contract, they will have far too much money committed to Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Jeudy, who combined for only eight TD catches in 2022. Yes, Patrick was hurt. But even a knucklehead like me tried to warn the Broncos not to pay Sutton like a marquee receiver after he tore his ACL. One of these guys has to go. I’m guessing Sutton will be out of here before training camp opens.
After all the money the Broncos spent in free agency, where do they need help? Center! We’re in trouble if we start LLoyd Cushenberry and and he hasn’t improved immensely.

Kiz: We admit the the staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters tends to be a finicky bunch. But what we appreciated about the Broncos’ approach to free agency was not only that new coach Sean Payton clearly demonstrated an old-school philosophy that football games are won in the trenches, but that general manager George Paton decisively and efficiently executed the plan, leaving Seattle to sign Dre’Mont Jones, when I suspect the Seahawks would’ve rather had Zach Allen, who will take Jones’ spot on Denver’s defensive line.
If the Broncos build a new stadium, my main priority is location. I want the stadium closer to my home, so I can avoid traffic.
Ruben, combat vet
Kiz: Well, I’m just glad Nathaniel Hackett is no longer the coach, if for no other reason than he would’ve advocated building a new stadium within walking distance of Russell Wilson’s house, because Huggy Bear believed his only job was to make the quarterback happy.
Hey Kiz, SOS! My bracket is blown! And taking on water! This year, either there is amazing parity in college basketball or the NCAA Tournament committee had no idea how to seed teams. But I am enjoying the toast that is my bracket.
J.G, burnt and busted
Kiz: Madness? What madness? I had Creighton beating Miami to win the national championship in my bracket. Didn’t everybody?
And today’s parting shot is a blast from a Denver Post reader that has put up with my nonsense for too long, from the first day I started working in this dusty old cowtown, way back in 1983.
Love your stuff, Kiz. But you missed the mark by questioning the Avs’ resolve in a 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh. We fell behind after some stupid penalties, which did deserve to be called out. But our injury situation recently got worse, not better. All three of our right defenseman (Cale Makar, Josh Manson and Erik Johnson) are hurt. Call us out on dumb penalties, but in a year when the Avalanche’s games lost to injury is among the league leaders and we’re still in the hunt for first place in the Central Division without injured captain Gabe Landeskog, I’d call that pretty good resolve.
